The Bonsai Life

How much are we fascinated by the charm of wild Lily flowers flourishing along the bank of rainy waters, unprotected, unshielded and exposed to each and every threat to its existence by nature? On the other hand how much are we influenced by the glory of a sophisticated, nicely knitted bunch of expensive Roses, tucked in to a vas on your boss’s king size table.

Which flower’s life do we admire and want to live ourself? The Rose or The Lily?

Many of us are really fascinated by the life of The Rose. He is well nurtured, carefully brought up, secured from disasters. Even after being plucked up he has the surety of being noticed, admired and be alive for a day or two unless been replaced by another one of its kind.

How idiot we would sound to admire the life of the Lily who has no such privileges. Just living his life on the mercy of nature and struggling with the uncertainty of life every other moment. He will never have the kind of security The Rose has. So, how does it matter if he is enjoying his life by himself with no other force but nature or him to dictate his destiny?

In fact, the Rose’s life looks more promising in the way of comfort and security, but..

“Security at the cost of growth is always a bad deal”.

The moment we start realizing that we are more than a flower, a showpiece, things become entirely different. We start thinking that we have the potential to grow as a large shady tree with strong roots and ages of dignified life to live.

Suddenly, The Bonsai Life which we are seasoned to live becomes nuisance to us and then only we come to know that we actually have Choices.

Choice to refuse, Choice to say ‘No’, Choice to write our own destiny and Choice to make our own path to success. The moment the fear of insecurity vanishes we get the courage to make decisions.

“The illusion of being absolutely secured erodes us more than the fear of being absolutely unsuccessful”.

It may take a moment, months or years to realize this; however it doesn’t make a big difference. What actually make the difference is how soon we learn to accept our failures, how soon we learn not to fail and subsequently how soon we learn to turn a failure in to a success.

For that we have to believe in our intuition with no doubts raised on our decisions forever, for the whole life.

“Success on my terms would be a long journey; I believe I have a longer life”.

Best wishes,
